Gator Poem 2

Back
from fishing
we saw a gator
trying to open
a pizza box
we stopped to help
this was on the road
next to Murrells Inlet
I ordered
pepperoni
he said—
and extra cheese
the wind picked up
and he left—
we saw him later
at a bar in Conway
he was pretty drunk
and didn’t recognize us
